Do you ever wonder if your wounds will heal? If the scars will fade? If your breaks will ever cease their pulsing ache?  Do you ever wonder if you’ll make it through a day without having to keep a straight face as you’re silently pushing tears away?  Do you ever wonder if you’ll be whole again instead of trying to fill your holes with balled up nostalgia and hollow glee?  Do you ever wonder if you can empty your pockets of regrets, mistakes and memories of pain and instead stuff them with laughs, smiles and love poems that don’t tear at your heart?  Do you ever feel as though things will only get worse as the creases in your face deepen, covered in the dust of immobility and black lachrymose stains?  Do you ever wonder if taking off your brave mask will allow you to fully feel the tragedy brewing under the surface or if you’ll just erode completely with the breeze to be scattered across the landscape? 

And with this final kiss I’ll do my best to say goodbye to the butterfly longings of yesterday that only burn my flesh with their touch today.  I’ll say goodbye to dreams and desires and douse the fire that once fueled my heart’s flame.  This is a farewell to fairytale wishes and a final kiss to movie screen endings.  It’s the death of wanting and needing and the birth of a much less scripted life.

Farewell, my love, my life, my shining knight.  I’ll no longer be wishing for your touch in the moonlight.  My love is buried in a ten foot grave so I can no longer hear its heart pounding and ghostly whispers as I pray for some kind of solace within myself.
